Angels Of Rock at Carnival City, 12 May 2012

Angels Of Rock

On May 12, 2012, the hottest female acts in South African music are joining forces for one of the biggest events of the year. Presented by Carnival City, ANGELS OF ROCK promises to be a grand, spectacular extravaganza that will turn the Big Top Arena into a rock ‘n’ roll fortress for one night only!

Expanding and building on the success of the three previous ANGELS OF ROCK shows, this year’s edition will be bigger and better than ever before, as the best female musicians in the land, including the most talented upcoming performers, strut their stuff on the glittered stage. Mixing elegance with undeniable flair and charisma, the all-star line-up for ANGELS OF ROCK will feature: electro-pop-rock darlings Aneva; melodic rockers Only When It Rains; the recently reunited Holly and the Woods; the critically acclaimed songstress Louise Carver; gritty rock ‘n’ roll revivalists Cortina Whiplash; quirky pop duo The Arrows; the evergreen SA music legend Karen Zoid; and the Tamara Dey-fronted “funkasaurus” known as Flash Republic.

ANGELS OF ROCK will take place at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City, Johannesburg, on May 12, 2012. Doors open at 4pm.

Playlist Creator & Web Marketer. The son of a church organist father and pianist mother, South African born Brian Currin grew up surrounded by music. In his pre-teen years he realised that he had no real talent for playing music and he couldn't sing, so he immersed himself in the world of music by listening, exploring and researching. Which he still does today. He served in the military for five years, then spent many years in corporate sales and marketing until his involvement in the re-discovery of Rodriguez, opened up a whole new world for him. He was the Content Editor for Rhythm Online, South Africa's first online music store, from 2006 to 2012. He ran Mabu Vinyl, the iconic music store seen in the Oscar-winning "Searching For Sugar Man" film from 2013 to 2019. His voice could be heard on the streaming radio station All Jazz Radio where he hosted the Vagabond Show from 2012 to 2019. He is very involved in promoting South African music, and is the co-owner of a number of music-related websites including which he founded in 1999.
