The Music Exchange has really inspired me and has reconfirmed for me that I am on the right track.
It was superbly organized and the opportunities for networking were amazing.
I met many people, amongst them being Arthur Goldstuck, who’s book ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Internet” which I read way back in 1996, was one of my early inspirations for starting to live my dream of being involved in the business of promoting music.
My involvement with this Music Exchange, including sitting on two panels, has been a definite highlight on my musical journey.
I was saddened that the major labels and retailers, who currently seem to be suffering and complaining the most about loss of sales, retrenchments, industry under siege, etc were conspicuous by their absence.
So they only have themselves to blame if they cannot embrace new technologies and trends.
That being said, I can sum up the whole conference with one observation: in the closing, the organizers received a standing ovation … that says it all.
